Lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, and mountain volcanoes make Costa Rica a popular tourist destination. With much to explore, Costa Rica is an eco-adventurer’s dream come true! But regular tourists don’t get to see an often-hidden side of Costa Rica. Just outside the capital city of San José is the suburb of Alajuelita. Outside that suburb is a small migrant community of people who piece together houses with scraps and garbage they find throughout the city.
Many years ago, our local ministry partner was stirred into action. He recruited a couple of church contacts and began to build simple and well-built homes for those who are truly in need. Just as on our Guanacaste trips, we’re involved with the local church in San José while we serve, and the church maintains a long-term relationship with the families after we build their new home, to ensure our impact is truly helpful and sustainable.

Typically a small hotel. Teams have stayed in multiple hotels through the years depending on the location of the worksite, size of the team, and the time of year. Rooms typically have multiple beds per room with 2-4 people per room and a private bathroom.

Amoveo Group was founded in 2013 by leaders with decades of experience working and living among marginalized communities and exists to see broken systems fixed in communities worldwide through partnering and investing in creative and sustainable solutions. They are involved in mobilizing people, material, and financial investment in projects which spur sustainable solutions to physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Saturday – Arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport - in San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO); transport to lodging facility
Sunday – Attend a local church; possibly see a local site or free afternoon
Monday-Thursday – Perform service work and outreach projects; evening devotions and God Sightings
Friday – Free day (Visit the beach or do activities such as zip lining)
Saturday – Depart for SJO airport; fly home
