Intern Shares Years of Impact
Q:Why an internship with Group Mission Trips?
A: I’ve been involved with Group Mission Trips since high school and fell in love with it from my first camp! Coming into my senior year, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but I knew the kind of company I wanted to work for and Group Mission Trips seemed like the perfect fit. It’s a caring environment full of motivated people with a passion for Christ and a heart for service.
Q: How did your Summer Staff position impact your faith?
A: How could it not?! I went into it knowing we were helping youth encounter Jesus through real, tangible service to others. What I wasn’t expecting was the impact the people would have on me. Seeing the way Jesus worked through the lives of those around me all summer, and seeing those around me so on fire with their faith, gave me the confidence to rediscover a child-like faith that I believe we all hold in us. In our highest and lowest moments as a staff, we could always feel the presence of the Holy Spirit around us and carrying us through each circumstance.
Q: What were your favorite parts of Week of Hope?
A: I really enjoy how every day for campers is something different. Even if a crew is going to the same project site all week, they’re doing something different every day and making new connections with those they are serving. The thing I loved most about Week of Hope was the small and intimate sizes of the camps. It really allowed everyone from different youth groups to interact constantly, which created some really great friendships that grew throughout the week.
